Memorial Stones- In Honor of Bishop Davis

This Sunday at Bethel, Bro. Jonathan Walker preached a dynamic and beatuiful tribute sermon to honor Bishop Davis. I'm thankful that Bishop and Sis Davis were able to be in attendance to hear the sermon preached. I also appreciate that this sermon was preached while Bishop is among the living and able to hear the words being spoken. So many times, we save the wonderful words for after the person no longer is able to hear them. The Bible says to give honor to whom honor is due and I truly appreciated this sermon today. I did take notes, but I strongly suggest you listen/view it here. Bro. Walker preached on "Memorial Stones-In Honor of Bishop Davis". His main text was taken from Joshua 3:7-11 and 4:1-6. In this portion we read that the Israelites are walking towards their promise land. Bro. Walker talked extensively about this. I want to however in my blog focus on the Four Stones that are in direct reference to Bishop Davis. These four stones are the foundational stones that Bethel was built upon. Bishop Davis moved to NY with his family many years ago out of total obedience to God's direction. Due to this man making a decision many thought was crazy, he was in direct result of many souls being brought to the Lord. The impact goes beyond the sanctuary walls of Bethel. Because of this man and his family, there are people all over the world that are sharing the gospel of Christ. He obeyed and God made the increase. The Four Stones or Spiritual Memorials are: 1. Faith in God. 2. Fear of God. 3. Love of God. 4. Obedience to God. We must have Faith In God. Hebrews 1:3-6. There is a current movement that worships the creation more than the creator. Hebrews 11:6 and Peter 1:7. It's so important to hold on to your faith in God in the midst of trials. Even in this life if you do not see your answer, still hold on to your faith in God. When you get to Heaven you will reach your goal one way or another. Have faith in God no matter what. Don't go by what you see, go by your trust that God will work it all out. This leads to having a proper Fear of God. This does not mean being afraid. It means a deep reverence for God. You recognize His majesty. The realization that you truly can't do this on your own and your surrender your life to God and His plan. Proverbs 9:10. The Fear of the Lord brings wisdom. If you pursue the fear of the Lord in your life, it's the starting point in having His wisdom in your life. Your soul can be troubled and filled with anxiety. To push back against this, apply Psalm 86:10-12 to your life. Take down the idols. Ask God to teach you, His ways. Unite your heart with His. Praise the Lord and glorify His name. From here you must have a Love For the Lord. Love the Lord with all your heart, soul mind and strength. Ephesians 3:17-19. Be rooted and grounded in love for God and one for another. He will quiet you with His love. He will give you peace and tranquility. His love brings peace. When you truly love someone you will sacrifice for them. You will realize that emotions are not enough, you need to add action to your love. You just don't feel it, you act on it. Love ties directly into Obedience in God. You can't love God without obedience. John 14:15. Love and obedience are always linked. If you love Him, you will keep His commandments. Obedience to God is not a burden. This comes together in an unfailing love that He has for you and I. Thank you Bishop Davis and family for moving to Long Island, NY. Thank you for giving your lives to this. Thank you for building Bethel on such a strong foundation. Even though times are changing, one thing I can say for sure, your Memorial Stones are still a strong foundation. They will continue to carry Bethel into a new dimension and greater revival than you could have ever imagined. God is good.
