Life and Life More Abundantly

This Sunday Bro. Walker preached a sermon on "Life and Life More Abundantly". His main text was taken from John 10:10. The sermon is not yet posted on the Bethel App via the Web, so I am not able to share it with you here. Bro. Walker was really mainly preaching to Bethel as a church family. In September, they will be starting something new. The Care Groups that used to take place in people's homes on a weekly basis will be changed to Life Groups and they will take place on the last Thursday of the month. I was so happy to hear of this. The intent and purpose of this is to encourage connection and community among the saints of Bethel. One of the things that happens when a church becomes large is if you are not careful a disconnect can take place. We come to church together twice a week, but do we really know each other. Personally, I can't tell you how many times I have heard the name of someone who passed away and I had no idea who they were. NYers are busy. Bethel people are spread out all over Long Island, the NY Metro area and all the way to New Jersey. This can unintentionally cause someone to feel like they are isolated. We come to church. We are blessed, strengthened and edified. There is so much more to being a church body. We need to fellowship one with another. I truly believe these Life Groups are the answer to bridge the gap that is much needed. This will strengthen the body. This will bring a deep unity. This will bring revival. If you attend Bethel, I strongly encourage you to get involved in this. You will connect on a deeper level with your brothers and sisters who live near you. This is Biblical, the first church met in their homes. A Life Group is something you can invite you neighbor to attend. They may not want to make the long drive you do on a Sunday, yet. They will however attend something in your home and be connected to a community. It's time to rebuild and strengthen one another. I am thankful for this direction and believe it will birth great things at Bethel. God is good.
