From A Worm To A Warrior

Image
For this Bethel Sunday it was great to see Pastor Davis and Sis Davis in attendance for service. It's not the same when you don't see their smiling faces.  Please continue to keep them in your prayers. Bro Jonathan Walker preached a dynamic sermon on "From A Worm To A Warrior". You can view/listen to it  here. His main text was from Isiah 40:25-31 and pretty much all of Isiah 41. I took notes, but to be honest, I can't read them very well. For most of the sermon I had tears streaming down my face. At the beginning of his sermon, Bro. Walker called RJ up to the platform. He had Isaiah 41:13 on the screen. He asked RJ to hold on tight to his hand. He was giving a visual of holding tight to God's hand and not letting go. As he did this he looked at RJ and spoke some encouraging and life affirming words to him. I could not stop the tears, they continued to stream down my face for the rest of the sermon.  What Bro. Walker doesn't know is that at times, RJ wou

Welcome Spring

Image
Hello Spring, it’s so nice to see you. As you awaken your warmth pushes the bitter winter away. All that was in a season of waiting is now bursting forth with new life. With it comes the promise for new beginnings. With each new flower that blooms and the buds I see breaking forth on the trees, hope begins to rise within me. With this my heart joins in melody as the birds sing to greet thee. Welcome Spring!

Hold On For Dear Life

Image
This Bethel Sunday we had a guest speaker who I hold in high regard. Bro. Dorion Norton preached a timely sermon entitled, " Hold On For Dear Life". The main text was from Ruth 1:1-17. Bro Norton is an excellent preacher and he was fully tapped into the Spirit today. I will share some of my notes here with you, but I highly recommend that you watch/listen to it  here.   There is much more to the sermon, than what I will be sharing.  Bro. Norton first started off by explaining what the word commitment means. How a singer for the church is committed to leading in praise and worship. Then he shared the difference between the chicken and the pig when it comes to bacon and eggs. The chicken is included in the breakfast as a contributor, but the pig is committed. The chicken gives the eggs and carries on with life. The pig gives his life for the bacon. He then touched on when a guy is committed to a relationship with a girl, he is in it no matter the cost. His love and commitment

Beautiful Bride To Be

Image
This past weekend, I had the joy of attending the Bridal Shower for a young woman who is very near and dear to me. I still remember when she first moved to NY and was attending Bethel. She was in middle school. Very sweet and a bit on the shy side.  When her mom and I met we became fast friends. Our friendship grew to the point that when I was giving birth to my son, I wanted her to be there with me in the hospital. She became so much more than a friend; she was a sister. My son adored her and Eleighna was a great babysitter. Over time life happened and her mom moved to Michigan, our friendship stayed. I did my best to keep a loving and watchful eye over Eleighna.  I kept my distance but prayed daily for God to keep her and carry her and hugged her every chance I had to do so. She became her own woman, strong, confident and grounded in Christ. Over the years when she was dating, I would pray about whomever she was with and if I felt a check in my spirit, I would pray it would break ap

The Supplier The Multiplier

Image
For the service today, Bro Jonathan Walker preached a sermon on "The Supplier The Multiplier" His main text came from Genesis 22:16-18. True to Bro Walkers form, he preached from the Old Testament to the New Testament to bring his sermon fully together. I did take notes. I strongly suggest you listen/view the sermon on your own. You can view it  here.  Before I do my best to share my notes, I want to first express my excitement over the fact that after two years of our Thursday night Bible study lesson being online, we are finally coming back in person. April 14th will be the first in person Bible Study at Bethel. There will be a new starting time and it will be 7:30pm.  I have always loved Thursday night Bible Studies and I am so happy we are coming back together again. If you want more information, it can be found in the Bethel App. Church today was wonderful. It was even more special because my good friend's The Prather's were sitting with me.  They were in town f

God is Intentional

Today at Bethel we had a guest preacher, Bro Alan Lopez, who pastors a church in Yonkers, NY. He is a great preacher. He preached from John 11 :1-4 on the Intentionality of God. As soon as I realized his text, I decided to not take notes. He was pretty much about to preach along the same lines as Pastor Davis from last Sunday. When things like this happen, I stop and take notice. It was a powerful sermon. I strongly encourage you to watch/listen to it  here.   I absolutely loved it when he broke out preaching in Spanish in the middle of his sermon. There is no way I can do his sermon justice.  I will share some of his sermon with you.  Circumstances do not make who we are, and circumstances do not make our calling. It is all about our mindset. We have a choice to give up based on what we see happening in our lives or we can speak faith and move on through it.  If you are going through something realize that God is intentional is what He allows and does in your life. You have a choice
