To Not Be Troubled

Take a walk with me. If you allow it all the news swirling around can cause your mind and heart to become troubled. When these things come your way, you have a choice. You can let it consume you or you can shake yourself and know this from John 14:27  “‘ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’”   Take a deep breath and do your best to find something positive to focus on around you. Comfort will come just when you need. A word to encourage you to keep going will be spoken just when you need it. Take a walk with me.

Chris With a Smile

Take a walk with me. One of the first features about Chris that stood out to me was his big smile. He loved his family a great deal. I remember admiring the deep connection he had with his sister Jennifer. He was always laughing about something and you knew from a mischievous grin that would come across his face he was up to something. Chris was always willing to lend a hand. I had no idea last Saturday when he taught me how to put oil in my car that it would be the last time I would see or speak to him. He was teasing me because I had no clue what was what under the hood of the car. True to Chris' good heart and nature, though he was quick to stop what he was doing and help me out. I will miss his smile and banter. I ask that you pray for his wife and sons that are trying to process the loss of someone they loved so very much, especially since they are still hurting over the loss of Natalie.  Everyone knew Chris, he touched a lot of lives and this loss will leave a hole in m...

At The Foot

Take a walk with me. There is a safe place to be. It's what you expect, but it's a safe place to be. Where is that you may ask? It is at the foot of the cross. How can it be a safe place? At the foot of the cross you are placing yourself where the healing blood flows. Yes, I know my Lord and Savior has risen. Yes, I know and believe He lives. Yet, at the foot of the cross you can cling. There you show that you are in need of Him.  I cling to this cross, for it is only Jesus who can truly be my healer, deliverer and provider. Jesus you are my all in all. For at the foot of the cross, all my questions, hurts and sorrows melt away and I can see freedom is there waiting for me. Take a walk with me.

Strong Foundation

Take a walk with me.  As a child I remember a Sunday School song about a wise man and a foolish man. One built their house on a rock and another built their house on the sand.  When the storms came, the one built on the sand fell, while the one built on the rock stood firm.  We are all going to go through storms and trials.  Some things may seem to shake us, but if we are on the rock, it will really only stir us and then peace will come again. Build your foundation on Christ the Solid Rock, for all else is just sinking sand. Take a walk with me.

Rely On

Take a walk with me. Today I learned what the scripture of the year is for RJ's school. I have to say this unexpected place is turning out to be a little haven for RJ.  God knows what we need when we need it. I have learned over time that I can rely on God, in the good times and in the bad times. God is ever present. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Take a walk with me.

Take A Walk With Me

This is my birthday week, take a walk with me. I have decided to start an entirely new blog. So as  I enter into my 44th year, I invite you to talk a walk with me.  This past summer as I was walking my dog with my sister and her dog, we stopped to smell the roses, literally. It reminded me of a sermon I had once heard called "The Thorn Has Roses."  I thought to myself how life can come with some thorns, but even in this moment, there is still the fragrance and beauty of the rose. The thorn hurts, but it still has a rose. So I have decided to  name my new blog for this new year after this phrase. It will be different then my blog from years past, so I ask you, the reader to take a walk with me. Today's walk is a scripture RJ and I read tonight after our nightly prayer.  Mathew 11:28-29   Then Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, Let me teach you, because I am hu...
