My Heart Overflows

Image
Today marked the last day of Bethel's 21 days of prayer and fasting. The worship today was beautiful. Sis. Shalah Smith led us in worship in such a way that it brought us straight into the throne room of heaven. Bro. Jonathan Walker preached a sermon entitled, "Incline My Heart". His main text was taken from Psalm 141. He preached on the importance of positioning your heart towards Jesus. He reminded us that Jesus didn't sin, but He did hurt. His mercies are new every morning. If you turn your heart towards Him, He will come towards you. His love for you is more than you could ever imagine. It was an outstanding sermon. I always enjoy hearing him preach. The best part for me was hearing Pastor Davis. He gave us a mini sermon and then led us as church family in communion. I have missed hearing him preach. I have missed seeing him in the pulpit. Bethel loves our Shepherd. We are so thankful and grateful to have him guide us through the importance and the seriousness of

The Greatest Gift Keeps On Giving

It has been a while since I have blogged a sermon. Part of the reason was I ran out of journals to take notes in and there were other reasons as well that I would rather not share. This past week a good friend handed me a journal and said they hoped I would start taking notes again of the sermons. Since, I have a great deal of respect for this friend, I decided to start blogging the Sunday sermons once again.  The sermon today was preached by Bro. Will Cook. I enjoy hearing him preach and teach. Before I share his sermon, I want to say how wonderful it has been to have Pastor Davis back in church with us. I wish Sis. Vickie Davis was in the service with us as well. We don't always understand why things happen the way they do. I miss her every day. It is nice to see our pastor on the platform again. Just hearing him speak before he gave the prayer requests and opened up the alters for those who wanted to be prayed for, was very reassuring to my heart. Bethel loves Pastor Davis, and

6am Trust

In the month of January, Bethel comes together for 21 days of prayer and fasting.  On selected days, we join for prayer via zoom at 6am. This morning was one of those days.  It was a very good time of prayer. The topic being discussed was on trusting in the Lord. Our pastor ended the prayer time sharing from his heart. I will admit, tears streamed down my face as we prayed. I missed not seeing and hearing our beloved Sis Vickie Davis pray. The truth is when we had these zoom calls in the past, I would love to watch and listen to her pray.  Even when we don’t always understand why things happen they way they do, we can still trust in the Lord. Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus. Just to take him at his word. Just to rest upon his promise, just to know, thus sayeth the Lord. God is good.

My Thoughts On 2023

In years past, I usually had a word for the year or some type of direction. I have been saying what Pastor Davis often says and that is "The Best Is Yet To Come." The truth is, I had a lot of hopes and expectations for 2022. None of them happened. In fact, most of the year was the complete opposite of what I prayed and hoped for. There have been some really good things that took place. There have been some really heartbreaking things that have taken place. Thus, I decided this year to take it a day at a time. To choose to find joy in the little things in life. I can't tell you what 2023 is going to bring. I am sure there will be good days. There will be sad days. There will be mundane days. There will be exciting days. There will be ups and downs. This is the one thing we know about life. I have hopes and dreams like everyone else. I wrote them down and will just leave it at that. If they happen, wonderful. If they don't, that is ok too. For today, I am thankful to b
