Memorial Stones- In Honor of Bishop Davis

Image
This Sunday at Bethel, Bro. Jonathan Walker preached a dynamic and beatuiful tribute sermon to honor Bishop Davis. I'm thankful that Bishop and Sis Davis were able to be in attendance to hear the sermon preached. I also appreciate that this sermon was preached while Bishop is among the living and able to hear the words being spoken. So many times, we save the wonderful words for after the person no longer is able to hear them. The Bible says to give honor to whom honor is due and I truly appreciated this sermon today. I did take notes, but I strongly suggest you listen/view it  here.  Bro. Walker preached on "Memorial Stones-In Honor of Bishop Davis". His main text was taken from Joshua 3:7-11 and 4:1-6. In this portion we read that the Israelites are walking towards their promise land. Bro. Walker talked extensively about this. I want to however in my blog focus on the Four Stones that are in direct reference to Bishop Davis. These four stones are the foundational stone

Water Baptism

Image
Bro. Will Cook taught on "Water Baptism" for tonight's Bible Study at Bethel. Since they are currently covering the materials from the Discipleship Series, I will share on here directly from parts of the lesson. Mark 16:15-16 – “And he (Jesus) said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Acts 2:37-38 – “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” We have discovered that faith and repentance are the first steps we must follow in God’s plan of salvation. However, scripture teaches us that there are additional steps that follow these first two. Hebrews

Faith and Repentance

Image
For tonight's Thursday night Bible Study at Bethel, the teacher was Bro. Tom Vayna. He taught on Faith and Repentance from the Discipleship Series. For the most part, he followed the notes completely. As I did last week, I will paste into my blog portions of the lesson, but not the entire thing as it is a lot of information. This is an important topic and I hope will grow in God as you read this.  Faith and Repentance John 3:16 –“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  Acts 2:38 – “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”   Step #1: Faith in God – believing and trusting in God is the essential first step to salvation. • Hebrews 11:6 – “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and

When I See The Blood

Image
What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.  Today, Bro. Jonathan Walker preached on, "When I See The Blood". His main text was taken from Exodus 12:12-14 and Romans 5:8-9.  I like it when Bro. Walker preaches because he more often than not uses a prop and being the Bible Quizzer extraordinare that he is, uses scriptures from the Old Testament and the New Testament.  I will do my best to share with you my notes. I strongly recommend that you watch/view it  here.  During Bro. Walker's sermon, he gave reference to Bro. Loammi Diaz's sermon from last week and encouraged everyone to listen to it again.  The link to watch that is  here.   Bro. Walker preached today about the blood of Jesus. His focus was on when Moses instructed the people to take Hyssop and dip it into a bowl that had blood from a spotless lamb in it. They were to use the hyssop to place the blood over their doorpost. In doing so the firstborns who were in the house would not die. As Bro.

The Word Of God

I absolutely love Thursday Night Bible Studies! Currently at Bethel, the focus is on the Discipleship Level 1 Series. Last week, I gave a brief overview because I had not yet asked for permission to share what was exactly on the lessons. I am happy to say that I can share with you what is posted on the Bethel App. There is a lot of material and I do not want to overwhelm the readers as I try to keep my blogs on the shorter side. I will share some key points. Tonight's class was taught by. Bro. Robert Cattani and the topic was, The Word Of God. I believe the majority of this series was written by our very own Pastor Davis. I know there are parts that are from others as well. If you live on Long Island, I strongly encourage you to attend Thursday Nights. There are classes for the kids that take place as well. This particular series is full of wonderful nuggets of knowledge and I am truly enjoying it a great deal.  You will see a change in the font for the portions of the lesson tha

The High Cost of Complaint

Image
For Bethel's Mother's Day service, we had a special treat. Bro. Loammi Diaz is my all-time favorite preacher. Without fail, he brings an anointed word that is also filled with stories that make you laugh. He has a gift of opening your heart with laughter and then bringing the truth of God's word to convict and encourage your soul. He did all of these things today when he preached on "The High Cost of Complaint". His main text was from Philippians 2:14-16.  I did not take notes, I really wanted to enjoy his sermon. You can watch/view it  here.  I encourage you to watch it. He will make you laugh and the details of his testimony that he shared will be a blessing to you. I will share with you what I do remember, you might want to check it for yourself. I have come to learn you can "hear" something in a sermon and receive it in a way that is meant just for you. Bro. Diaz talked about how there is a time when we lament. It's in the Bible. It's ok to

Gathering Together

Image
I love going to church. I love to worship. I love to hear the preaching. I also love to learn. Thursday night Bible studies are my favorite night of the week. Even though I have been in church my entire life, there is always something new to learn or something that is good to be reminded of. Tonight, was the official start of going back to our regular mid-week Bible Studies at Bethel. It was also back to normal in regards to classes for the children and the youth. It just felt good.  Currently, Bethel will be teaching their Discipleship Level 1 classes in the sanctuary to the adults. Tonight's lesson was taught by, Bro. Robert Farron. His lesson focused on Gathering Together. Since it is a regular class that is taught, I do not want to share everything or copy and paste unless I have permission to do so. I forgot to ask in advance and I just want to be respectful. It is available on the church app. I will do my best to try and ask if I can share the material for next week in my bl

Au-Dela

Image
This Sunday marked the ending of Bethel's Revival. Since it was also Missions Sunday, it was fitting that the speaker for today was Bro. Dean Byfield, who is a missionary to France. It's aways a treat to hear Bro. Byfield preach, since he grew up at Bethel. Bro. Byfield is a dynamic preacher who preaches in the flow of the spirit. I appreciate how he listens and follows the voice of the Lord. Earlier in the service we were given a treat since his wife Laureen and son Caleb gave the missions report.  Sis. Byfield spoke in French and their son Caleb translated into English.  They are a beautiful family and I love it when they come for a visit. Bro. Byfield preached on "Au-Dela". It's a French word for Beyond. I of course am not able to type the word correctly as it is truly written in French. His main text was taken from II Kings 7:3-8 and Ephesians 3:20-21. You view/listen to the sermon here. . I will try to remember and add the link later to this blog. Today'
